Our Organization

Kolping Indonesia

Kolping Indonesia is a national-level association of the worldwide Kolping organization, established in 2006. It is part of a global network focused on community empowerment, family values, and self-reliance. Kolping Indonesia’s journey began on December 4th, 1994, in Sumba, with the founding of two Kolping Families in Katiku Loku (Central Sumba) and Bondo Kodi (Southwest Sumba). These twin groups marked the beginning of Kolping’s mission in Indonesia, which legally started its community empowerment efforts in 1995 following the ratification of the Sumba Foundation Act.

The organization is legally represented by the Karya Kolping Foundation, established through the Decree from the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Number: AHU-1158.AH.01.04 of 2009). The foundation serves as the legal entity for Kolping Indonesia, which is a lay Catholic association based in Cologne, Germany, founded in 1850 by the Catholic priest Adolph Kolping.

Today, the Karya Kolping Foundation leads empowerment activities across the islands of Sumba, Flores, and West Timor, and has extended its reach to Timor-Leste, continuously supporting the social development and well-being of its members and communities.
